Ksenia Les (born in 1988) is a Russian documentary photographer based in Berlin. She works on long term projects with the focus on social issues in the countries of the former Soviet Union and explores a shift of the East-European identity beyond the stereotypes.


I am a documentary photographer born in Yaroslavl, Russia and based since 8 years in Berlin. I work on projects with the focus on social issues and explore a shift of the East-European identity beyond the stereotypes. My work has been published in German and international media like De Morgen (Belgium), De Volkskrant (Holland), Neue Zürcher Zeitung (Switzerland),News Deeply (USA) Spiegel Online, Emerge Magazine, NEON Stern, NIDO Stern, Hintergrund magazine , Deutsche Bahn Magazine and among others. I am a contributing photographer for the German newspaper.Taz.die tageszeitung. I also was commissioned by the organizations as Hilfe für Kinder, International Bilderbuch Festival, Center for Art and Urbanistics, Refugio - Berliner Stadtmission and German - Kyrgyz social startup KANCHA. 

I was one of creators and an editor of OSTLOOK - an online magazine for contemporary photography and other visual practices with the focus on Eastern Europe.

I created a multimedia project Kak dela Kyiv exploring the creative scene of Ukraine’s capital, five years after Euromaidan (supported through the funding of MitOst e.V.).
